The plain-English rules of Lockbid
Lockbid connects customers and locksmiths. The work itself — and everything about it — is between you and the locksmith. Here's exactly what that means.
The short version: Lockbid is a connection platform only. We take no responsibility for any work, service, pricing, or disputes between customers and locksmiths. All arrangements, checks, and agreements are between the parties directly. Always verify qualifications, insurance, and ID before work begins. Prices vary by experience, location, and job details.
1. What Lockbid is
Lockbid is a connection platform only. We introduce customers who need locksmith work to independent locksmiths who can quote for it. We are not a locksmith company, we do not employ the locksmiths on the platform, and we do not carry out, supervise, or guarantee any work.
2. What Lockbid is not responsible for
We take no responsibility for any work, service, pricing, or disputes between customers and locksmiths. All arrangements, checks, and agreements are between the parties directly. This includes the quality of work, arrival times, damage, cancellations, and any disagreement about the job or its price.
3. Your responsibility to check
Always verify qualifications, insurance, and ID before work begins. Locksmiths apply to join Lockbid and may be asked to upload identification and confirm they hold public liability insurance, but it remains your responsibility to satisfy yourself before letting anyone start work. Prices vary by experience, location, and job details — agree the full price with the locksmith before they begin.
4. The £5 platform fee
Posting a job is free. Browsing and chatting is free. Only when a customer and a locksmith both agree to work together does each side pay a £5 platform fee. Once both fees have cleared, each party's full contact details are released to the other at the same time. Both fees are strictly non-refundable once contact details have been released, because that release cannot be undone.
5. Payment for the work itself
The customer pays the locksmith directly for the trade work. Lockbid takes no commission on the work and is not a party to that payment. Any invoice, receipt, guarantee, or warranty for the work comes from the locksmith, not from Lockbid.
6. Conduct on the platform
Before contact details are released, chat is filtered to block phone numbers, emails, links, and social media handles. Attempting to bypass the platform to avoid the platform fee may result in the account being suspended. Usernames must not contain contact details.
7. Reviews
Customers can leave a review after a match is completed. Reviews are public and must be honest. We may remove reviews that are abusive, fake, or contain personal data.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Lockbid available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page is the current one.
9. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent through the Contact page. Lockbid operates in the United Kingdom.
